Guide
How to use Wilo
From your first saved window to a library that files itself. Each section takes a minute.
01
Getting started
Wilo lives in Chrome’s side panel, next to every page.
- Add Wilo from the Chrome Web Store, then pin it: click the puzzle icon in the toolbar and the pin next to Wilo.
- Click the Wilo icon or press Alt+T to open the side panel. It lists your open tabs, grouped by collection.
- Sign in with Google or email to sync across browsers. Your first sign-in starts the 14-day Growth trial, no card needed.
- Wilo works without an account too: everything stays in this browser.
- Turn on Dashboard on new tab in settings to see your library on every new tab.
02
Collections and the Inbox
Collections hold saved tabs, links and notes. Spaces group collections; the Inbox catches everything not yet filed.
- Press Alt+S to save the whole window as a new collection, or use Save at the top of the side panel.
- Press Alt+Shift+S to save just this tab into its suggested collection.
- Drag tabs from the side panel onto any collection on the dashboard. Click Open all on a collection to reopen it, tab groups included.
- Star the collections you use most, and add colors and tags to find them faster.
- Press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) anywhere in Wilo to search tabs, collections and links.
03
Save from any page
Save the page you’re reading without opening Wilo.
- Right-click anywhere on a page and choose Save to Wilo.
- Pick a collection, the suggested new one named after the page, or New collection… to name it yourself.
- Press Alt+N to add the tab to Next, your reading queue for later.
- Change any shortcut at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
04
Organize your tabs
Wilo files open tabs into the collections you already have, using their titles and addresses. It never reads the page itself.
- Click Organize now at the top of the side panel, or Organize this window in settings. Each tab is matched to its best collection and the window is grouped to match.
- Suggestions show up under each collection. Accept them with the check mark, or reject them with the cross.
- Starting from an empty library? Organize now has nothing to match against yet. Save a window first, then use Sort into collections… from the Inbox’s ⋯ menu: it proposes new collections by site and topic.
- Every move you make teaches Wilo, so filing gets better the more you use it.
- Free includes 3 Organize runs a day. Growth makes them unlimited and adds Sort into collections.
- Cloud AI is off until you turn it on. When on, it only sees cleaned-up titles and addresses.
05
Auto-organize and filing rules
On Growth, Wilo keeps filing new tabs as you browse, so you never have to press a button.
- Turn on Auto-organize in settings. New tabs are filed as they load.
- Open Filing rules & Smart features to send a site, an address or a title word to one collection every time.
- Turn on Mirror tab groups to have Chrome’s tab groups follow your collections.
- Choose a limit under Tidy open tabs. Once you go past it, idle tabs are tucked away, still saved and one click from coming back.
- Tidy never touches the tab you’re on, pinned tabs or tabs playing audio. Pause tidy stops it at any time.
06
Switch project
Focus on one collection: Wilo opens its tabs and tucks the rest away.
- Open a collection’s ⋯ menu and choose Switch to this project, or hover a collection in the side panel and click its target icon.
- Wilo opens the project’s links, groups them, and tucks every other tab away. Pinned tabs, the tab you’re on and tabs playing audio stay put.
- Choose Leave project to come back. Tabs that were open before the switch return, and tabs opened for the project close.
- A snapshot is taken before every switch, so you can always restore the window exactly as it was.
07
Never lose a tab
Everything Wilo does can be undone.
- Press ⌘Z (or Ctrl+Z) to undo any save, close, move or delete.
- Recently closed keeps closed tabs for 7 days.
- Trash keeps deleted collections and links for 30 days.
- Snapshots save your open windows every few minutes, so a crash costs you nothing.
08
Shortcuts and extras
Small tools that save a lot of clicks.
- Make to/ links: type to/slides in the address bar to jump straight to a saved page. If Chrome searches instead, type to, a space, then the name.
- Save chats from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok under AI chats, and search them by title.
- Share a collection as a public, read-only link, and revoke it whenever you like.
- Import bookmarks or exports from other tab managers. Export to JSON, HTML, Markdown or text.
09
Free and Growth
Everything you save stays yours on every plan.
- Free: unlimited saved tabs, collections and notes, sync on 2 browsers, and 3 Organize runs a day.
- Growth ($5/mo, or $48/yr): auto-organize, filing rules it learns, tidy, Switch project, AI sorting and naming, and unlimited browsers.
- The 14-day trial starts at your first sign-in. When it ends, the Growth features pause and nothing you saved is touched.
- Manage your plan in Wilo under Account → Plan.
